The Mindful Kids Yoga
Program
at Village Yoga this Fall 2024
Kids learn best through movement, play, bodily expression, and their keen sense of curiosity. The Mindful Kids Yoga Program at Village Yoga not only aligns with kids’ intuitive way of being and learning but encourages them to go deeper.
Each class is designed to teach kids about their bodies, where their feelings and emotions live, how to calm their bodies with movement and breath, and how to weave this learning into their everyday lives.

Meet your expert guide, Samar Ayyub.
During her years teaching in the first-grade classroom Samar was hailed as the nurturing and gentle, intuitive and kind, and most importantly, fun and exciting teacher. Her classroom had a reputation as safe-haven for learning and self-expression.
While obtaining her Masters in Special Education and teaching full time, she found solace in a regular yoga practice as a way to reconnect with her breath and body. She quickly fell in love with the practice and its ability to revitalize her entire being, and wished to share this joy with her students.
Her curiosity for yoga, movement, and breath, eventually led her through four teacher trainings, including a Kundalini-based kid’s yoga program. Her work with children is a culmination of not only her education and training backgrounds, but her intuitive sense of how children operate, how they learn, and how to help them thrive.
Samar’s students often report the exciting ways they’ve brought yoga back into their lives at home, including yoga with pets, parents, siblings, and friends.
After a decade teaching, Samar eventually “retired” from the elementary classroom to seek a Masters in Clinical Social Work. When she’s not teaching yoga to the community at Village Yoga and counseling and coaching parents and working with her therapy clients, you can find her hiking the trails, exploring her new home in the Hudson Valley, or hanging with her cat, Zeitoun.
Read alouds, discussions, games, and moments of stillness are common elements included in each class beyond the yogic-movement.
Parents / caregivers join class for the final relaxation of each class — creating a bonding experience around calm, quiet, and connection and giving you an access point to incorporate what your kiddos have learned in Mindful Kids into their life at home, school, and in community.
