Our Teachers
While our Village Yoga teachers cross traditions and backgrounds, we all remain committed to a fundamental principle that guides us at Village Yoga: create a space and experience where people feel seen, heard, safe, and connected, so they can remember joy in their bodies, nurture a calm nervous system, and practice presence, in community. One breath. One class. One person at a time.
Sam Breschi
“Go slow, love the people.” Sam gave Village Yoga its behind-the-scenes mission statement way back in our DC-teaching days. And that’s exactly the sentiment you feel embodied in Sam’s classes. Sam blends 15 years of experience teaching yoga with his lifelong athleticism and ongoing daily chase after a good, deep sweat. He lends his personal training expertise and unparalleled understanding of anatomy and physiology gained through his massage therapy training and practice to each class. With simple, salt-of-the-earth language, the grooviest playlists you’ll find, and his innate sense of sequencing and intuitive healing touch, Sam’s classes are like none other.
With gratitude, he honors his teachers Simon Park, Shiva Rea, Dharma Mittra. When he’s not teaching, you can find him sweating in his gym on the 2nd floor, rough housing with kiddos George and Lou, golfing with his buddies, or having a working dinner date with his partner in all things, Cath.
Catherine Zack Breschi
A hand to the heart. A deep breath in. A deep breath out. It’s the simplest practice Cath knows & one she’s doing herself many, many times a day. Coming to this work of teaching yoga and meditation not because she’s a naturally patient, calm, peaceful person (oh no!) — but because she’s needed it the most herself. Having left her first career as a Big Law corporate litigator a decade ago, Cath has built a life, a living, and a family around the practices that keep her grounded, present, and astonished each day. A writer, a dreamer, a creative entrepreneur, Cath has built a teaching, coaching, consulting, and speaking career helping others how to pay attention and come back to themselves. She’s the creator of virtual programs 40 Early Mornings, a meditation course, and Stress School, an 8-week mindfulness-based stress reduction course and the podcast Beyond Balance. Cath’s led countless retreats, trainings, trainings, and workshops — and yes, even gone back to her old law firm to teach mindfulness. When she’s not at Village Yoga, you can find her reading, writing, living out a Mary Oliver poem in some Hudson Valley field, lovingly cooking a meal for her family & friends, drinking a glass of wine with friends, cuddling her kiddos Lou & George, taking a walk with her partner in all things Sam, or watching trashy reality TV.
